About

Welcome to Queeresque, an un-apologetically nerdy blog about gender and queer theory. We aim to bring smart, witty, and original commentary on gender and queer theory to as wide an audience as possible. We’re interested in how gender and queer theories intersect with our daily lives, wherever they take us. We may be geeks, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously and we think we’re pretty funny. We hope that you do too.

Michel Foucault said of his own work, “I would like my books to be a kind of tool-box which others can rummage through to find a tool which they can use however they wish in their own area…I don’t write for an audience, I write for users, not readers.” At Queeresque, we try to be users of gender and queer theory and inspire others to be the same. In a subject that’s easily dominated by narrow ideologies and pet theories, we hope to pose questions that open up discussion and make room for new thinking. At Queeresque, no ideas are sacred; they’re here to be challenged, expanded upon, deconstructed, applied, and giggled over.

Whether you’re in love with Judith Butler or have never heard of her, you are welcome here. We love your comments and questions, so feel free to introduce yourself. We hope you enjoy Queeresque!
